Is HarfHike a free App?
The basic functionality is free but the full functionality requires a monthly or yearly subscription. HarfHike makes use of several paid services, for example to calculate routes and to show advanced maps with hiking & cycling trails and 'knooppunten'.
  • Free functionality: Apple maps, view route + current location + track so far, alert when deviating from route, event mode, share your location with friends during an event, store trips in Apple Health, view all trips in Apple Health, import route gpx.
  • Subscription-only functionality: Mapbox outdoor maps, automatic directions, cycle routes by CycleStreets, 'knooppunten' (NL), search locations, save routes, Apple Watch extension, off-line maps.

Can Harf Hike be used on a Mac?
Harf Hike can be used on a Mac with Apple Silicon.

Can I share routes and trips between my devices?
Yes, routes can be saved and opened on your other devices.
Completed trips can be stored in Apple Health / Health Connect which is synchronized on your Apple / Android devices.

Can HarfHike be used off-line?
Partially.
To prepare a route an active internet connection is required. In IOS, it can be downloaded such that it is available off-line when starting your hike. Without an active internet connection HarfHike shows the map as it is cached on the device.

What are the minimum requirements?
IOS 17+
WatchOS 26+
Android 11

Can I organize my routes?
Not yet. It is on the wishlist to add a menu where you can view and organize your routes.

Will more events be added to the Event Mode?
Yes, this is the plan.

Will HarfHike contain ads?
No, HarfHike will remain ad-free.

Does HarfHike gather personal data?
No, unlike many other Apps, HarfHike does not gather personal data. The only data that is shared beyond your own device and account is the data that is required for the services you use. For example, two locations for calculating directions.
